Talybont on Usk is situated at the gateway to the Brecon Beacons and is a walkers' paradise yet is close to Brecon, Crickhowell and Abergavenny as well as being less than a one hour drive from Cardiff, Swansea and Newport.
The wildlife is fascinating; ranging from Red Kites and Kingfishers to those less popular (with farmers) badgers and foxes. The reservoir, soon to become a Local Nature Reserve, is currently a SSSI as is the River Caerfannell a tributary of the River Usk and a spawning river for Salmon and which runs some 200m alongside the grounds of The Malt House
Above all, for such a small village, the 4 pubs and restaurants are outstanding and The Malt House could not be closer to the White Hart Inn and yet shielded from its patrons by a high wall. The Malt House is also only a 5 minute stroll (by road or canal) from the village shop which also doubles as a post office and café. Despite being so close to the centre of the village privacy is maintained with River Caerfannell on one side, the old railway embankment on the other and a high stone wall alongside the road with gated and secure gardens
The 2+ acre landscaped grounds incorporate a swimming pool and quiet places to sit and reflect. Children are very welcome and locally there are plenty of activities ranging from visiting a Dinosaur Park to Potholing and prospecting for gold in a Roman Mine.
